2009 Scholarship & Loan Resources

The Wyoming Conference of the United Methodist Church encourages United Methodists to pursue opportunities in postsecondary education. Various forms of financial assistance are available to eligible members of United Methodist churches in the Wyoming Conference.

Financial assistance is available to students entering or attending accredited colleges, universities, and vocational schools. Students are not restricted to United Methodist related institutions or any particular geographical location.

On this page, you will find links to download the 2009 Application Form and the a brochure descibing the various scholarhips and loans available.

Several of the General Boards and Agencies also offer financial assistance to United Methodists seeking to further their education.

  • The Division on Young People's Ministries of the General Board of Discipleship offers two scholarships: the Richard S. Smith Scholarship and the David W. Self Scholarship. Applications and requirements for these can be found by clicking here.
  • United Methodist Communications offers a scholarship and 2 fellowship programs. They are: the Leonard M. Perryman Scholarship and Stoody-West Fellowship and the Judith L. Weidman Racial Ethnic Minority (REM) Fellowship. For more information and applications for these, click on either of the links above.
  • The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) offers a number of grant and scholarship opportunities for those intending to enter health related fields. You can learn more about these by clicking here.
  • The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation offers a variety of scholarship programs. Details and application forms can be found here!
  • The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry is still another source for a large number and variety of scholarship and loan programs. To access information and applications for these, go here.

The Wyoming Conference Scholarship Committee needs the help of all local churches in order to help fund this program. The second Sunday in June has been set aside for churches to accept special offerings to help provide assistance to our students. Please use the material found on this page to promote the scholarship program in your local church.
